NaNo - Day 3

I have discovered a wonderful new fact about myself today - i really need a vacation. I can't wait until the holidays are over, so I can visit my family again. Inspiration:

Today was rainy and I had to actually do my job. The work was slow and frustrating, causing me to melt in a headache way before my time was up. But hey! Regardless I still wrote something for NaNo and I feel pretty proud about that. I wrote about 539 words woohoo!

EXCERPT
Trying to keep his presence relatively undetected, Jason walked to the edge of the freighter’s top deck and leaned his elbows against the outer railing. He let out a defeated sign and started to think of potential excuses that could get him out of this nightmare. Maybe he could claim that somehow last night he developed a serious stomach virus, which involved spontaneous eruption of vomit like a water sprinkler. Would that gross out enough people so they would believe him?

That’s when he saw Shiri dressed in traveling clothes and a worn-out baseball cap, dragged a wheeled case behind her. She would never believe his symptoms and he’d be too guilty to lie to her. With her eagle vision, his sister saw him from a distance and started to flap her arms in excitement. She ran toward boarding dock, her case bobbing awkwardly behind her.  Jason lifted a half-hearted wave.

A tall shadow to his right was also waving back at the girl. Uncle Shawn. He looked awfully chipper considering their last encounter was almost a fist-fight. That particular trip yielded some amazing artifacts and objects from the old world. However they were quickly ripped from Jason’s hands as soon as they were repaired and traded with the closest village for a little meat and vegetables.

Ever since Jason’s apprenticeship with his uncle ended, the two men had been quick to point out each other’s differences. His uncle’s latest theory is that Jason had become selfish with his role in society. Whenever Jason salvaged some new tech, it should first be repaired and distributed to the people, not hoarded away into a workshop for further study. 'The people of today come before he people of the past ,’ Shawn would say. Quite ironic, coming from him.

I hope the rest of your day is better than your afternoon. :)

    1. Thanks Valerie. It's quite fun to blog alongside NaNo as I find it keeps me motivated too. Even on a day like yesterday where every voice in my head is telling me to go back to bed and give up, I won the victory by writing something. I slayed the dragon of laziness :D
I only hope that one day I could be a writer like you \o/
